The Hillsdale Daily News recently featured an article about Nash Drugs’ new pharmacists: Dr. Laura Wieland, PharmD and Dr. Craig Lee, PharmD on August 28, 2015.

Hillsdale and Jonesville have attracted two young professionals with a desire to connect with their patients… Nash Drugs recently welcomed two new pharmacists to the area: Doctors of Pharmacy Laura Wieland at Hillsdale Market Pharmacy inside the Market House and Craig Lee at the Jonesville Nash Drugs Pharmacy location on East Chicago Street. Some days they can be found at either location.

While Wieland graduated more recently in 2009, Lee graduated in 2005, having worked as a pharmacist for different companies for the past 10 years.

Wieland, 30, of Jackson, attended the Rudolph Raabe College of Pharmacy at Ohio Northern University and has held licensure and certifications in Georgia, Michigan, Ohio, California, Massachusetts, Hawaii and Arizona.

For the past two years, she worked as a staff pharmacist, then a pharmacy manager at Ingles Markets in Georgia. As a pharmacy manager, her responsibilities included hiring, training and scheduling of technicians, as well as controlling all aspects of pharmacy inventory.

Highlights of her career there included organizing and performing annual outside flu vaccine clinics, training pharmacists, increasing script counts and becoming skilled in Inmar online returns, as well as being a contact person for pharmacists with questions in the program.

Acclimating herself with Nash Drugs, Wieland has spent time at all three locations, but said she will mostly work out of the Market Pharmacy location in Hillsdale. There, she will conduct medication therapy management (MTM) sessions with patients 65 years of age and older, administer immunizations and dispense medications.

Originally from Ohio, Wieland said she is glad to be closer to home now. She’s known her career path since high school, when a family friend asked if she wanted to work in the local pharmacy. “I’ve never wanted to be anything else since then,” she said.

She and her husband, Andrew, have an 8-month-old daughter, Ryann. She likes the small town atmosphere and said getting to know customers is one of the favorite parts of her job.

Dr. Craig Lee, PharmD Nash DrugsLee graduated from the University of Toledo, where he received his bachelor of science in pharmaceutical science in 2003 and his doctor of pharmacy in 2005. During his doctor of pharmacy clinical clerkships, Lee observed procedures from the perspective of the anesthesiologist, conducted drug therapy utilizations for two doctor offices and also worked in ambulatory care, infectious diseases and psychiatry.

He formerly worked as a pharmacist is Lambertville, Monroe and Coldwater. He is 34 years old and has been married to wife, Ericka, for five years (in October). “I’ve lived in the Coldwater and Joneville areas for seven or eight years now, so the area isn’t new to me,” Lee said. “It’s nice to be able to work here, too.”

Michele LaBo of Nash Drugs said those working at the pharmacy are excited to have the two pharmacists join their team.
